Roper St. Francis Cancer Wellness
At Roper St. Francis Healthcare, we believe that comprehensive cancer treatment includes supporting patients and their families through all aspects of the disease - its physical, emotional and spiritual tolls. Through philanthropy, patients of Roper St. Francis Cancer Care will benefit from a Cancer Wellness Navigator. The navigator will enable people touched by cancer to enhance their quality of life through programs, both clinical and non-clinical, ranging from prevention, nutrition and massage to symptom management and palliative care.
The Center for Spinal Cord Injury
In the Charleston Tri-County area approximately 1,000 residents live with spinal cord injuries, with an average of 43 new cases each year. Impairments from these injuries can make even routine medical visits and procedures, such as annual GYN visits or cancer screenings, difficult to navigate. The Center for Spinal Cord Injury is now open one day per month, at Roper Rehabilitation Hospital, to provide peer mentoring and assistance in navigating our medical community. Community support will play a critical role in our ability to continue serving these patients.
Roper Rooftop Helipad
Minutes matter for those suffering from a heart attack or stroke. Through philanthropy, a roof-top helipad will be added to Roper Hospital, improving access in critical care emergencies, decreasing transport time for rural areas and ensuring better disaster preparedness for the Charleston peninsula. In funding better access to the expert care delivered by the emergency teams of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, you can help save minutes – even lives – for thousands of Lowcountry residents needing critical care.
Neuro-Spine Center Operating Room Renovations
Honored as a BlueCross BlueShield Center of Distinction, the Roper St. Francis Neuro-Spine Center is the first facility in South Carolina and one of few in the world to offer O-arm® Imaging. It is crucial that the Center’s facilities continue to keep pace with the needs of our patients and the skilled staff who treat them. Roper St. Francis neurosurgeons utilize first-class technology, like the O-arm®, in operating rooms at St. Francis Hospital that are 16 years old in design. Philanthropic funding will ensure the renovation of four operating rooms at the Center is accomplished—creating a seamless match between our quality staff, advanced technology, and a fully supportive physical facility.
Nursing Scholarship Program
Excellence in nursing is one reason Roper St. Francis is the Lowcountry’s leader in patient satisfaction. In fact, St. Francis Hospital has achieved Magnet Status, the highest level of nursing accreditation in the nation. Funded 100% through philanthropy, the Nursing Scholarship Program provides financial assistance for those pursuing or advancing their career. It is only because of community support that, since its inception, more than 180 nurses have been afforded the opportunity to learn at more than 20 of the best nursing schools across the country, ultimately benefiting the thousands of patients they will treat throughout their career.
