Roper St. Francis HeartSave is a community health initiative that has placed automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in over 200 public places throughout the Lowcountry including schools, churches, restaurants and medical facilities. HeartSave is made possible by funding from the Medical Society of South Carolina.
AEDs are small, portable electronic devices used to restore normal heart rhythm to people in cardiac arrest. AEDs are safe and easy to use, making it possible for non-medical personnel to be trained to provide rapid defibrillation.
