Inpatient rehabilitation plays a vital role in a patient's full recovery and begins the day following surgery. We get patients out of bed and moving around, with assistance, on day one. Almost all of our patients are discharged directly to home. Rehabilitation continues at home, using the strength-building exercises outlined in the patient notebook. Occasionally, a patient may need to make further progress before going home. The patient's physical therapist, doctor and nurse will determine if further rehab is necessary and if the patient should be transferred to a rehabilitation or skilled nursing facility.
