Patient Guide to Bloodless Medicine and Surgery

The Bloodless Medicine and Surgery program is part of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Pastoral Care department. The mission of the Pastoral Care department is to offer patients and their families spiritual support, compassion and understanding throughout their hospital stay or treatment.

  • When scheduling a procedure at one of Roper St. Francis Healthcare facilities by phone, inform the pre-admission testing nurse that you desire to be a Bloodless Medicine patient or, if applicable, that you are a Jehovah’s Witness.
  • Upon admission to a Roper St. Francis Healthcare facility, let your nurse know that you wish to be a Bloodless Medicine patient.
  • Provide a copy of your Health Care Power of Attorney to the admitting nurse to be placed in your chart.

The Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Coordinator  is available to answer your questions and to assist with any part of this process. Call (843) 724-2399 for assistance.
