The Roper St. Francis Bariatric & Metabolic Services program offers a medically supervised weight management program as a nonsurgical option for weight loss. Program participants will be medically managed by our family medicine doctor Johnny Weeks, MD and registered dietitian Alexis Ratowsky. The 12-week program includes five phases. Each phase consists of real food, plus meal replacements and supplements that can be purchased through the office.
What to Expect
To increase your chance of success, we ask that you fully participate in each phase including:
Three one-on-one visits with the doctor and dietitian
During the first visit, we will review your weight loss history and health to set goals for the program. You will meet again at weeks four and eight to track your progress, monitor your health and modify the program to fit your needs. You will also meet with the dietitian to discuss your diet patterns and receive personalized support.
Weekly group sessions
Program participants will meet as a small group (8-12 participants) once a week for 12 weeks. The weekly classes are led by the dietitian and are designed to help you through each phase of the program. Weekly classes are offered at various times for your convenience. All classes are held at Roper St. Francis Bariatric and Metabolic Services, Suite 208 East at St. Francis Hospital.
Payment
Some insurance companies will cover certain aspects of this program, but some out-of-pocket expense will be incurred.
