What to Expect if You're Admitted to the Chest Pain Center

The staff our Chest Pain Centers are cardiac intensive care nurses who will continuously monitor your heart and report any changes to your doctor. You will have laboratory tests and electrocardiograms within 12 hours of admission. When the tests are completed and the results are ready, your doctor will decide whether or not you need to be admitted to the hospital. Your meals may be restricted for testing purposes; otherwise you will receive a heart healthy diet during your stay. Our goal is to provide a restful and quiet environment for our patients. It is important that the patient remains quiet and calm. We provide sleep therapy masks and music therapy to assist our patients in relaxing. This facilitates a faster recovery. The visiting hours are flexible, but the number is restricted. This allows us to ensure that our patients do not become fatigued.
