YAG Laser

YAG Laser Capsulotomy

After cataract surgery, approximately 20% of patients will develop posterior capsular opacification (PCO), sometimes referred to as "secondary cataracts." This condition can result in diminished vision. PCO is not preventable, but fortunately, it is treatable and nearly always restores or improves vision. The doctors treat PCO with a laser procedure known as a YAG laser capsulotomy. In this minor procedure, a laser is used to remove the hazy capsule situated behind the IOL implant, resulting in restored vision.
