A mammogram is a set of X-ray images of the breasts. The American Cancer
Society recommends that women follow its current guidelines for early detection of breast
cancer beginning a regular program of mammography screening at age 40, followed by mammograms

breast. This can be one of several situations:
- Any signs or symptoms related to the breasts, such as a lump,
breast pain, nipple discharge, unexplained skin changes of either breast, or
new or unexplained asymmetry of the breasts
- Personal history of breast cancer
- Breast ultrasounds, including cyst aspirations and core biopsy
- Evaluation of an indeterminate abnormality seen on a screening mammogram
Breast Ultrasound ~
An image using sound waves to further evaluate an abnormality in the breast.
Ductography ~ An x-ray of the ductal system of the breast.
Mammotome ~ A biopsy, small tissue removal, of a breast abnormality.
